Tiffany, Furs and Georges Briard!

How is it November 2nd already?!  I feel like we were just celebrating Fourth of July in Washington D.C. with friends, but somehow Halloween is now behind us.  Jeez.  I hope everyone had a spooktacular holiday!  We had a great time passing out treats on Saturday night and an even better time the night before at our little costume party.  Josh and I dressed up for the first time in years and really enjoyed seeing our friends in creepy and/or hilarious outfits.

Aside from our successful Halloween celebrations, we had a pretty good outing at an estate sale over the weekend.  Well, it was more like a warehouse sale, but it was chock full of items cherry picked from previous estate sales.  After preparing for guests all week, and staying up late Friday night, I really wasn't in the mood to go pickin.  But alas, we went.  As a new business owner, I have more than just myself to think about now.

I'm so glad Josh forced me to head out Saturday afternoon.  We found some incredible, if not eclectic, pieces!

This particular sale was different from ones we usually peep out.  Nothing was priced and I couldn't get a handle on who owned the warehouse, who was holding the sale and and why there was so much stuff just stashed away for no one to enjoy...

After passing through the "aisles" of merchandise 3 or 4 times, we decided we'd better get some prices.  We took a couple of super adorable hand-painted horseshoes up to the lady in charge, as well as a vintage desktop globe and a handsome antique cherry wood shield mirror.  The prices were fair (in fact she let us have the horseshoes) so we started a pile.

After 4 or 5 more exhausting, heated spins through the warehouse, we had had enough.  It was time to checkout!  We left Hollywood with the horseshoes, the shield mirror, and the Replogle globe as well as a 1950's Ash Flash lantern, a pair of early 20th century cast iron muffin pans, an oversized "tongue and lips" Rolling Stones poster, an R.A. Miller whirligig, a Tiffany & Co trinket box, an olive wood carved Santos, a tramp art carved wood box, a handmade shadowbox and last but not least, an incredible Mid Century Modern France & Daverkosen armchair.  Needless to say, given how little we spent, we were stoked!!

Our Saturday haul.

After handing out candy to kids (and beers to adults) later that night, Josh and I decided we'd head back to the sale after church on Sunday.  And that we did!  By this point, we had pretty well made friends with everyone, including Pepper, the Scottish Terrier. So we made a few more rounds through the warehouse and ended up with more loot to bring home.

This time we didn't didn't bring home as much, but in addition to a pair of 18th century ladder back chairs from New England, an Edwardian era mirror and a set of cobalt blue glass mixing bowls, we got a couple little goodies to keep all to ourselves.

Josh found an old cocktail shaker with skull 'n' bones swizzle sticks. We didn't realize until we got home, that there was a Georges Briard "Mix Your Poison" glass inside the martini shaker!  So cool.

Georges Briard "Mix Your Poison" highball and accompanying stirrers.

Love the rhinestone eyes!

The swizzle sticks are designed to look like bones.

What'll it be?!

Now for my booty.  Like it or hate it, I've always had an affection for vintage furs.  I never owned any, and now living in South Florida I have almost zero need for one.  But I came across a beautiful, mint condition mink stole.  As soon as I placed it on my shoulders, I knew I had to have it.  It was as if it had been tailored for me; it fit like a glove.  I don't know when I'll ever get to wear it, but I love it!

Lovin' it!

Lining is intact and the embroidered name, Ann Gilkey, is a sweet touch.

The backside. Oh, and it even has pockets!

Stay tuned for more adventures in pickin! Have a great first week of November!

Best,
